Natural bristle brushes may have a pleasant smell when opening the box, (this will dissipate after washing or being out in the air after a while) and this is how you can tell it is authentic; other cheap synthetic nylon brushes will never have this aroma.

When using for the first couple of times, a few boar bristles may fall off. This is completely normal and is as a result of some floating bristles – all part of the manufacturing process.
